Box Score Collegeville, PA - The Bethlehem Christian Middle School Boys Basketball Team had a season to remember. The Panthers took on the Eagles from Coventry Christian in the ACCAC Championship game on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers won by a final score of 42-40.
While the weather outside of Valley Forge Baptist Academy could not decide what to do, inside the gym, Panthers remained calm. Bethlehem Christian got off to a solid start in the first quarter.
Myles Harris and
Gabe Transue continued to provide the offense for the Panthers, but
Winston Hornick was a key factor in the first frame. Hornick nailed a three and later, went 2-2 from the free throw line for 5 of his 9 points. BCS held the Eagles to just 6 points in the first quarter en route to an 11-6 lead heading into the 2nd quarter. Throughout the 2nd frame,
Myles Harris was able to get inside the lane on multiple Panther possessions and convert those chances into made buckets. Coventry was able to chip away late in the quarter and cut the BCS lead 19-16 heading into halftime.
The back and forth battle continued into the 3rd quarter. Harris, Transue, and Hornick all made the most of their scoring opportunities. The scoring trio, along with outstanding team defense and key rebounds from
Ashton Wescoe and
Caleb Primrose helped the Panthers maintain their small lead over Coventry 29-24. Going into the 4th quarter, Each made basket would prove to be big as the Eagles made a run.
Nick Kasper came off the bench and made arguably his biggest shot of his middle school career by draining a jumper just inside the free throw line. The Panthers would again rely on the scoring duo of
Myles Harris and
Gabe Transue. Harris and Transue combined for 11 of the Panthers 13 fourth quarter points. The complete team effort held off the Eagles and won the all important 17th and final game. The Panthers won the Middle School Boys ACCAC Championship by a final score of 42-40 to complete their incredible undefeated season.
Congratulations Boys!
