Gabe Transue Scores His 2,000th Career Point
Senior Gabe Transue has been a cornerstone of the Bethlehem Christian School basketball program since arriving as a fifth-grade student, immediately making his mark as a Panther. From gym classes to practices and game nights, Transue has consistently stood out for his relentless effort, fearless play in the paint, and passion for the game. Whether fighting for rebounds or attacking the basket, Gabe's love for basketball has always been evident — and so has his dedication to improving and competing.
Throughout his time at BCS, Transue has helped build and elevate the Panthers program. Despite opportunities to play at larger schools in the area, he chose to remain at Bethlehem Christian.
"Ultimately, it feels like home," Transue said. "All of my friends are here. I wanted to play for Coach Matt. The chemistry was important, and I wanted to be somewhere we could make a run at states. I love BCS."
His commitment has translated into tremendous success. From seventh grade through his senior season, Transue has helped lead the Panthers to an outstanding 109–26 record over six seasons. Individually, his scoring progression reflects consistent growth and development: 252 points as a freshman, 468 as a sophomore, 693 during his junior campaign, and 600 points so far in his senior season.
The 6'4" senior is a versatile threat both inside and outside the arc, but what truly sets Transue apart is his complete game. In addition to surpassing 2,000 career points, he has recorded over 1,000 rebounds, demonstrating his commitment to impacting every aspect of the game.
On February 3, 2026, Transue made both BCS history and Lehigh Valley history when he scored his 2,000th career point while finishing with 29 points against a tough Executive Charter team. With the milestone, he became just the 10th player in PIAA District XI history to reach the 2,000-point mark.
Boys Varsity Head Coach Matt DeJesus reflected on Transue's accomplishment:
"Gabe's numbers tell the story of a player who does more than score. Reaching over 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds reflects his work ethic, competitiveness, and leadership on both ends of the floor. He elevates everyone around him, leads by example every day, and his care for his teammates is second to none. Gabe will continue his career at Gettysburg College, where his leadership, approach to the game, and commitment to winning will allow him to excel at the next level."
Transue also shared what the milestone means to him:
"This is something I've worked hard to achieve. It means a lot because not many players reach this milestone in such a short amount of time. My teammates and coaches have challenged me every day to get better, and they're a big reason I was able to accomplish this goal. Playing with guys like Myles, Deion, Caleb B, Caleb P, and Nick is special. When I'm double-teamed or face-guarded, I have full confidence in them to knock down shots. We play together as a team."
Keith Groller, a senior sports writer for The Morning Call added:
"Gabe is a special player who has proven himself against some of the best teams in the Lehigh Valley. He wants to prove people wrong — especially those who believe he can only excel against Class A competition. He has had big games against strong teams from every classification and does it with relentless effort inside, smooth shooting, and smart decision-making on the perimeter. If he's not open, he finds teammates who are. He calls Bethlehem Christian home and has put Panthers basketball on the map not only as an outstanding player but also as an outstanding leader. I am excited to see him continue his career at Gettysburg, though I believe he could compete at an even higher level if he chooses."
Congratulations Gabe on an incredible milestone! Thank you for your hard work and dedication to Bethlehem Christian School!
The Panthers now look ahead to the postseason as they prepare for ACCAC playoffs and the upcoming District tournaments.
